My most recent spontaneous adventure took me back to Fort Worth once again. This adventure was an all day event, with the majority of the time spent with my favorite 7 year old granddaughter Caylynn, at the Fort Worth Zoo. I went to the Zoo to see Jennifer perform for her annual event Boo At The Zoo. She asked me if I would mind watching Caylynn while she did her four shows. I didn't hesitate to say yes. I love hanging out with Caylynn and taking photos of her. Besides, it would be fun to walk around the Zoo with her, even though she can be a brat at times. I had talked to her and told her what we would do while her mom was working but she didn't agree. She insisted that she was going to watch all of the shows because she promised that she would particippate and dance during the audience participation part of the show. I told her okay, that we can watch all the shows but, that would mean we wont see very many of the animals at the Zoo. She said it was was okay, because she promised she would dance at all the shows. I told her okay, that we should get started now, while Jennifer was getting ready for the first show. So, off we went. Caylynn and I walked just a short distance before we found something interesting to do. It was a show on Wild Texas. But first I wanted to take some photos. She said she would let me take two photos of her if she could take two of me. I agreed to let her take some of me but I told her I'll be taking a whole lot more than two photos of her.
First she posed for some photos that turned out nice.
Then when it was her turn, this woman who was watching us, asked if we wanted her to take a photo of the two of us.
Then the first show was about to begin. We sat in the front row to watch. When it was time for her to get up to dance Jennifer came over to get her and she froze. Stage fright I suppose. That was ok. I understood. She could dance for the next show.
London and Jennifer start out the show by telling some corny Halloween jokes. I wonder if they'll ever say the one about why he Warlock couldn't get the Witch pregnant. You know, because the Warlock has a halloweenie
London loves candy I think that's why she's so sweet
After the show Jennifer and Caylynn posed for photo.
So did what's his name. GRR I forgot... Wolfman Jack
I tried on this funny looking bird mask.
We got back just in time for the second show. Grabbed front row seats and proceeded to watch and wait for Caylynn to get up and dance. Guess what? She wouldn't do it again. That was ok with me too. Since she was not going to dance, we could walk around the zoo. So off we went looking at all the animals, reptiles and birds.
Taking our time to stop and pose for photos too
And taking breaks to sit and rest our feet while we watched the homo sapiens on the loose.
We went into the main Boo At The Zoo area where we got candy, played games and painted pumpkins.
While we were busy painting pumpkins, Caylynn told me her favorite animal at the zoo is the rhinosuraus. I told her thats where we will go next. But on the way out of the Main Boo area, Caylynn played the ring toss game and one a prize for getting one ring on the cat.
On the way to see the Rhinoceros we stopped and looked at the Flamingos. We both agreed the Flamingos are pretty and stinky. So, we quickly got away from them.
Then, we found the Rhinoceros. Much to our surprise Mr & Mrs Rhino recently had an addition to the family. The baby rhinoceros was out and about playing in the water and trying to suck on the Mom's nipple. I couldn't get a very good shot though because there was a crowd of people already there and in front of us watching.
The baby rhino was so adorable.
Mom Rhino seemed to be very protective of her baby
The daddy rhino was kept in a seperate area and couldn't get near the baby
The elephants had a huge area tro roam around, right across from the rhinos. We saw them throwing dirt on there backs and a couple were playing or kissing... not really sure what they were doing but it looked like they were smiling.
We started to head back so that we could catch Jennifer's fourth and final show of the day and saw the zebras.
Caylynn was sitting on my shoulders at the time and took a photo of the zebra
I promised Caylynn she could have ice cream on the way back so we stopped and got a waffle cone with choocolate chip mint ice cream
While eating the ice cream we looked over and this huge aligator was swimming by the window so Caylynn went over to look at it and posed for a pic
On the way back to see Jennifers fourth show we stopped and looked at the turtles sun bathing.
Then we saw the train. We had enough time to go round trip on it so we did.
At the start of the train ride we noticed a longhorn steer eating a pumpkin and thought that was kind of funny until we got back roughly ten minutes later and were amazed that the pumpkin was all eaten up
There was a horse eating a pumpkin too
On the second half of the train ride we got off and moved to the very front seat of the train
We got back just in time to watch the final show of the day. We were able to get the front row seats agaiin. This time Caylynn still didn't dance but at least she stood up with the other kids. All in all, the quality time I was able to spend with my favoirite brat... I mean favorite grandaughter was something I will cherish. Maybe next weekend we can go see my favorite animal. The monkeys
Dad, I love this!!!! How cool!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I'm glad you liked it. The secret is... I'd do it over and over again.
